Tapecut is one of the talented & spectacular active figures of Estonian electronic scene. He came to music from composing his own tracks and became a promising dj. He started in the year 1999 as experimental and techno music composer. On the small private party - “Special” he had first dj experience and collaboration with his friend and music partner Dj Nemaier. And then the duo was born. They played soulful and funky gigs at such venues as Pegasus, BonBon, Moskva, Von Krahl and a number of different private parties around Estonia. On August 2002, their state of mind finally reflected in radio show “Melodika” on Energy Fm, which rapidly won the recognition among Estonian and Russian audiences. Unfortunately, due to some changes that happened to the radio station, the show was canceled. That was until the early 2006, when their long anticipated return to the air of energy fm took place. In their personal development duo shifted from easy listening jazz, lounge & chillout music to more deep and intelligent dance music, presenting such styles as idm, techno & micro house, various kinds of nu-jazz, fusion. Naturally, this kind of changes reflected on the Melodika show as well. Melodika was on energy fm till the October of 2007. Currently Tapecut is playing separately. Today his sets could be funky & punky with a dash of clash sounds, but at the same time electronic, deep & techy with a lot of noise, cuts, delays & dub echos. Tapecut works a lot with musicians and vocalists on their live performances as well. He experiments with the sound of such exotic instruments like tabla, sitar and didigeridoo. As a result of this experiments and collaborations Tapecut Project was born. The concept of this project is club shamanism, which is all about music originated in the old ages uniting with tendencies in modern electronic scene. The special feature of the project is the live sound of ancient trance musical instrument didgeridoo, used by Australian aborigines in their ceremonial and religious rituals for over 1500 years. It is believed, that specific and low-toned sound of didgeridoo is the closest to the nature itself. Project is intended for the dance floors, basis of their music is techno house and minimal, combined with ethnic grooves.
